| The Taekwon-Do Oath I shall observe the Tenets of Taekwon-Do I shall respect my Instructor and Seniors I shall never misuse Taekwon-Do I shall be a champion of freedom and justice I shall help build a more peaceful world | The Tenets of Taekwon-Do The five tenets of Taekwon-Do are what we try to live our lives by, both in and out of the Dojang: Courtesy To be polite to your Instructor, Seniors and fellow students, Parents, Friends, Family and to everyone you meet. Integrity To be honest with yourself. You must be able to define right from wrong. Perseverance To achieve a goal, whether it be a higher grade or any technique, good grades at school or climb a mountain, you must never stop trying; you must persevere. Self Control To lose your temper when performing techniques against an opponent can be very dangerous and shows lack of control. To be able to live, work and train within your capability shows good self control. Indomitable Spirit To show courage; when you and your principles are pitted against overwhelming odds. |
