Taekwon-Do literally means Foot (Tae) Hand (Kwon) Art (Do)- the Art of Hand and Foot fighting. Taekwon-Do is a Korean Martial art. The Founder of Taekwon-Do was General Choi Hong Hi. The name Taekwon-Do was given to this fighting art on 11th April 1955 by Gen Choi.
However, it is more than just the use of skilled movements, it promotes a way of life instilling a belief, a spirit of self imposed discipline and self confidence. With our modern society plagued by intimidation and violence, it enables the weak to possess a means of defending themselves with a fine weapon, that when strongly applied can be very dangerous.
